Sailing Taster session June 2026

Our first sailing taster session of the year was held on 7th June, and we had 11 people come along to give it a go.
After checking details, everyone was provided with a properly fitting buoyancy or lifejacket, and then a short safety briefing was given. Participants then helped to rig three dinghies and were soon ready to get on the water.
Three of our club members and volunteers helmed the dinghies, taking two participants at a time. There was a good breeze, so plenty to get the boats moving, and soon they were reaching across the loch with the wind in their sails.
Meanwhile, the other participants had the opportunity to board the Club safety boat, helmed by another club member, and get a closer look at the dinghies in action.
Throughout the morning, the participants swapped between the different dinghies, the safety boat and the shore. They were able to get a great sense of the fun and adventure that sailing has to offer.
All too quickly, the session was over, and it was time to bring the boats back onto the shore, take the sails down and put the boats away. However, we look forward to seeing some of our participants back at the club again and who knows? They may be the ones taking others out next year.
