Tuesday evening's pursuit race at Forfar Sailing Club was marked by two features: a notable lack of wind and an even more notable lack of Lasers!
Clive Bowman (Topper Byte) set off first, closely followed by the Solos of Becci Oosterhoorn, Tony Walker and Jim Green. Malcolm Heron then went off in his GP14 (crew Jennie Parkinson) and Dennis Burgin took up the rear in his Solution, the fastest boat.
Becci and Tony soon led the fleet, while Jim struggled to find any wind and could only watch as everyone left him behind before the first mark. Although the pace was slow for everyone, Dennis was soon working his way through the pack to set up a personal race with Tony at the front. Becci slowed up and found herself tussling with Malcolm, while Jim eventually overtook Clive to leave him well behind. Tony had been in the lead for much of the race, but towards the end of the 50 minutes Dennis found a helpful puff which propelled him past Tony. Result: 1st D Burgin, 2nd T Walker, 3rd M Heron, 4th B Oosterhoorn, 5th J Green, 6th C Bowman.
