In a light westerly breeze at Forfar Sailing Club on Tuesday evening, a five minute postponement was signalled to allow late comers to make the start line. A short tight course was set to avoid weed and in case the wind should die.
Four boats made the start line, all were rather line shy, Tony Walker in his Solo was first over the line some seconds after the gun closely followed by Malcolm Heron in his Laser. Positions remained the same at the windward mark with Dennis Burgin,s Solution close behind and Becci Oosterhoorn bringing up the rear in her Enterprise. A close battle continued between the first three boats with Tony making the best of the Solo's excellent handicap in light winds, holding off the two faster boats on the reaches. But once onto the run places started to change with both Malcolm and Dennis taking the lead at times, Tony remaining in touch. Eventually the race officer decided to shorten the race. Dennis rounded the leeward mark first and held the position through to the finish but was not able to pull far enough ahead to win on handicap. Tony took first place, Malcolm 2nd , Dennis 3rd and Becci 4th.
