|| David Smith
|| Angus Beyts
|| Simon Brown
Thursday’s conditions were similarly unusual, the wind was from the north, very tricky as it swirls and bends round contours of land and trees before hitting sails, leaves large calm patches, and was gusty so only a soothsayer knew what to expect.
Jim Green started a very mixed fleet on a pursuit race, David Smith first in his Firefly followed simultaneously by Angus Beyts in his Streaker and Simon Brown in his newly acquired Wayfarer, then the Laser of Graeme Knox. David was in great form and possibly soothsaid best of all, remaining at the front for quite some time while Angus lost a little power through gear failure. Simon also had reduced power in a smaller sail and despite an on-board tactician in the form his crew Malcolm Heron he dropped back. Graeme, again fortunate to have no sister boat class competition used every opportunity to get to the front and at the end David was close behind followed by Angus and Simon.
